THREAT FROM THE ASSOCIATION OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF GEORGIA

As many of you know by now, court reporters are under a real threat from the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia to abolish our fee schedule through legislation that will be introduced this year.  GCCRA is working diligently to counteract this threat, but we need everyone to get involved.

Our goal is to maintain the integrity of the record, which also happens to be our responsibility.  Your representatives, judges, and attorneys can be of great assistance if they know what’s happening.

Along those lines, Judge John Lee Parrott of the Ocmulgee Circuit has written an outstanding letter in support of court reporters in Georgia.  GCCRA is sharing this with everyone on our mailing list in hopes that it will encourage all court reporters, who are concerned with keeping their livelihoods, to contact their local representatives, judges and attorneys to ask for their support in fighting this legislation.  If this passes, it will affect all court reporters in Georgia whether you’re an official or a freelance reporter.  Please click the following link to read Judge Parrott's Letter.pdf
.

GCCRA is encouraging all court reporters to contribute to the "Government Defense Fund" set up by GSRA and to join one of the associations in Georgia.  You can CLICK HERE to make a contribution.

There is POWER in numbers!
